Ebenezer Ministries International (EMI)

CRANE’s founding member in Democratic Republic of Congo.

Founded in 1997, EMI is a non-denominational organization under Congolese law based in the Territory of Uvira in the Province of South Kivu. Its creation was motivated by the socio-political turbulence during the period of 1996-1998 and after in the Great Lakes region and South Kivu, specifically in the Territories of Uvira, Fizi and Mwenga. Its objective was to seek lasting solutions to the cyclical conflicts that continue to damage human lives and infrastructure, to bring back all the communities of divergent tendencies to adopt attitudes and behaviors imbued with the positive values inherent in man.

EMI’s Key Programs:

  • environmental restoration;

  • education in emergency situations;

  • promoting teaching environment by building schools;

  • conflict resolution and restoration of social cohesion;

  • wash and sanitation;

  • economic empowment.
